Coronation Day Our Way, 2013

Our Community Scrapbook project records how the Coronation of 1953 was celebrated by people living in Finsbury at the time.

We collected the stories of over 70 people living in the area at the time. The recordings were presented to Mark Aston from Islington Local History Centre where they were archived at a celebration event held in Islington Museum on 3 June 2013. The community scrapbook was displayed on a stall at the White Cross Street Party on 22 July 2013. We produced a booklet featuring memories of the day of the Coronation and of life in Finsbury at that time.
